Canon, Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan, Inc. announced the introduction to the Japanese market of two new SELPHY compact photo printers enabling the easy printing of photos captured by digital cameras and camera phones without the need for a PC: the Canon Selphy CP770 and CP760. The Selphy CP770, targeting families with small children, represents a new concept in compact dye sublimation photo printers. The unit includes a bucket-like carrier basket in which all of the accessories required for printing can be stored, which not only facilitates quick and easy setup and cleanup, but also makes the printer highly portable, enabling users to conveniently print photos most anywhere. The CP770’s attractive design features rounded edges and an orange body color that conveys an appealing, user-friendly impression. The Selphy CP760, which succeeds the CP740 launched in June 2007, includes a 2.5-inch color LCD monitor, enlarged from the 2.0-inch monitor of its predecessor, and realizes increased operating ease through an improved user interface. Supporting easy use by any member of the family, both new Selphy printers are equipped with large, color-coded operating buttons for frequently used basic functions, such as the printing of L-size (89 x 119 mm) borderless photos. The CP770 and CP760 also contribute to trouble-free printing procedures through menu screens with helpful displays and guidance in seven languages, including English, Japanese, and simplified Chinese. The two new Canon compact photo printers incorporate Portrait Image Optimizer, which detects faces within a photo and automatically corrects brightness and contrast to make possible optimal results, even for photos in which the subjects appear under strongly backlit conditions. The Selphy CP770 will be available Mid-June 2008 20,000 units/mo. The Selphy CP760 will open May 15, 2008 120,000 units/mo. |
