print version

XyEnterprise unveiled version 4.0 of its Contenta content management software. Contenta 4.0 provides support for Microsoft SQL Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, as well as Windows Vista Service Pack 1, platforms integral to many enterprise IT environments. The addition of these new platforms, along with Contenta’s existing support for Oracle databases, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft Windows, ensure that Contenta fulfills the requirements of nearly all corporate settings. Contenta 4.0 also includes support upgrades to Oracle 10.2, several Web-based technologies, and Autonomy’s IDOL K2 Enterprise Search software.

XyEnterprise has successfully supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the company’s widely used publishing software, XML Professional Publisher (XPP), and the addition of that support in Contenta 4.0 was a natural extension for the company.

In addition to these significant enhancements to Contenta, XyEnterprise now offers support for organizations that use virtual software to manage their Contenta environments, a technology XyEnterprise employs in its own testing, engineering, and customer support departments.

Contenta 4.0 also includes a host of interface enhancements that improve user efficiency. Enhancements to the checkout/check-in options for graphics and other binary file types will help users update and manage those object types more efficiently. Users will be able to work with multiple graphics at once, simplifying previously tedious tasks. In addition, Contenta 4.0 gives greater visibility into the object status by quickly indicating states like read-only, locked and available.

In Contenta 4.0, XyEnterprise also added a graphical and editable workflow to Contenta Web, a Web-based user interface. This feature-rich client is an alternative to the desktop client.
