Glen Stone

Glen Stone joined Sony Electronics in 1998 and currently holds the position of vice president in the US Advanced Technologies Center where he manages a group of architects and spearheads projects related to home networking of audio and video devices. 

In his present role, Stone is active in industry standards associations and currently chairs the Technical Committee in the Digital Living Network Alliance as well as represents Sony in the UPnP steering committee. In the past, he has also chaired the Wireless AV Networking subcomitte within the Consumer Electronics Association. 

Stone was involved in the development of 1394 chips for Sony’s popular VAIO portable PC line, and the release of TrueTime software, Sony’s first contribution to open source Linux. 

Previously, he spent 10 years at Apple Computer, researching, designing and implementing VLSI architectures for processing A/V algorithms. He was also involved in the engineering of a combination modem/Ethernet card for Apple’s successful PowerPC line-up. 

He holds 22 patents with Sony and 13 with Apple. 

Stone has an M.Sc and B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.
