These awards acknowledge the products that gave the best performances in Buyers Lab’s rigorous wide format printer field tests over the previous year.

Roland DG Delivers Praiseworthy Performance
Two of Roland DG’s wide format devices were awarded well-earned Picks for their strong performance in Buyers Lab’s field tests. “The dual CMYK Roland VG-640 excelled in our productivity tests, with speeds more than 27 percent faster than average printing on Avery Dennison MPI 3000 monomeric vinyl and 40 percent faster than average on MPI 1105 premium vinyl,” said David Sweetnam, Keypoint Intelligence’s Director of EMEA/Asia Research & Lab Services. “This printer is all about fast turnaround without sacrificing quality, as many of our test images exhibited neutral grays, fine details, and smooth skin tones at the high-speed, 4-pass print setting.”
Meanwhile, the seven-color plus white ink Roland VG-640 excelled in BLI’s color accuracy performance. “On the two different media, this model produced average Delta E measurements of around 3.4 across 15 PANTONE colors, some of which are hard-to-match oranges and purples, results that will readily meet the demands in all color-critical applications,” Sweetnam said. The VG-640 also earned very good marks across the board for image quality, speed, and the VersaWorks Dual RIP.
