Keypoint Intelligence Reveals Winners of Inaugural BLI Color Consistency Awards for A3 and A4 Device Families
Fairfield, NJ – Keypoint Intelligence, the world’s leading independent evaluator of document imaging hardware, software, and services, today announced the winners of the inaugural BLI Color Consistency Awards for the 2021-2023 timeframe, with the accolades going to:
Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.
Color consistency has been a critical aspect of Keypoint Intelligence lab testing for over two decades. Measured using IT8 color charts throughout a test, color consistency can then be quantified by technicians and dissected by analysts to have a full picture of just how stable color output is over time. To determine the recipients of these first-ever awards, Keypoint Intelligence analyzed the last five years of test data.
“Office devices have improved a great deal over the past decade, with all typically producing pleasing ‘out-of-box’ color quality acceptable for business graphics, brochures, and marketing materials for in-house distribution as well as print-for-pay customers,” said Joe Tischner, Production Printer Analyst at Keypoint Intelligence. “It is the exceptional models, however, that deliver the most consistent color over time, which subsequently translates to greater uptime, repeatable output, and, most importantly, returning customers.”
Konica Minolta Takes the A3 Prize
A3 hardware is tested to the maximum monthly duty cycle, with color charts printed and measured at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% test points and each sample compared to the Day 1 output. Since 2015, nearly 12 million pages from 11 vendors have been printed by all A3 toner-based color models that Keypoint Intelligence has tested. For this award Konica Minolta’s eight evaluated A3 devices, which include its new bizhub i series, produced more than 1.5 million pages.
“Whether it’s for business graphics, photo images, or any other color output type, Konica Minolta’s A3 lineup can be counted on to provide consistent prints,” Tischner said. “Companies demand consistency in nearly everything they do, and that includes hardcopy documents. This color consistency is a powerful message in today’s business world, and more consistency in color prints translates into less paper waste and more money savings.”
HP Delivers on the A4 Side
A4 hardware is tested to half the maximum monthly duty cycle, with color charts printed and measured at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% test points and each sample compared to the Day 1 output. Over the past half decade, roughly 3.7 million pages from 11 vendors have been printed by all A4 laser models that Keypoint Intelligence has tested. For this award HP’s 15 evaluated A4 devices produced 770,000 pages.
“HP A4 LaserJet MPFs and printers produce more consistent color output than the competition,” Tischner said. “What’s even more impressive is that the color consistency from HP laser hardware approaches the stability of what’s seen with its inkjet technology. Whether in the office or at home, users will have the confidence in HP’s LaserJet lineup to deliver top-notch, repeatable color documents.”
