Top-Performing Segment 4, 5 And 6 MFPs Win BLI "Picks"

Fall 2006

December 11, 2006, Hackensack, NJ - Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), the leading global provider of critical test reports on document imaging products, honored MFPs from Canon, Océ Imagistics, Ricoh and Toshiba today with its coveted "Pick of the Year" awards. The culmination of months of testing in BLI's in-house laboratory, the semi-annual "Picks" acknowledge the very best products in their respective categories among the hundreds of products tested. Unlike some other industry awards, BLI's "Picks" are unique in that a product must truly earn its place as a winner by proving to be a superior performer in BLI's exhaustive battery of lab tests. Following testing, BLI's highly experienced technicians and analysts conduct a thorough assessment of performance and base their "Pick" selections on a wide range of performance factors, including reliability, image quality, ease of use, productivity and a host of network connectivity factors.
And the winners of BLI's "Picks" in these segments are:

Outstanding Segment 4 MFP, Fall 2006

Toshiba e-STUDIO452
Outstanding Segment 5 MFPs, Fall 2006

Toshiba Stands Out
Of the Segment 4 models tested by BLI in the last six months, the Toshiba e-STUDIO452 was the only one of the group to receive BLI's hard-earned "Highly Recommended" rating. "There were quite a few strong performers tested in this category, but the Toshiba e-STUDIO452 edged them out, not only for its strong reliability, but also for its print productivity," said BLI Lab Manager Pete Emory. He pointed out that the unit's print efficiency when producing BLI's job stream, which simulates real-world networked office usage, is superior to that of its competitors. "This model also offers highly automated setup procedures for network printing and excellent print drivers," added Emory.
"It's a tremendous honor that the e-STUDIO232 and e-STUDIO452 were selected as "Picks of the Year" by Buyers Laboratory, a very highly regarded testing lab," said Mark Mathews, vice president and general manager, Toshiba America Business Solutions. "We're especially proud to have such a reputable organization acknowledge TABS' leading-edge technology and our commitment to delivering the highest quality multifunction products to our customers."
Océ Imagistics im8530: Productive and Reliable
At the higher end of Segment 5 (the 80- to 90-ppm range), the 85-ppm Océ Imagistics im8530 was awarded a BLI "Pick." In its impressive reliability performance, it produced 600,000 impressions without requiring service. BLI's Emory noted, "The im8530 also offers very good print quality, along with print productivity that is better than that of many tested competitive models."
Commenting on the award, Tom O'Neill, director of product marketing for Océ DDS Corporate Printing Division, said, "Océ Imagistics has a simple product strategy—to deliver the best document imaging products and technology to our customers. This 'Pick of the Year' award once again shows the success inherent in that strategy. We thank BLI for this prestigious award. The im8530 is the eighth Océ Imagistics product to win a 'Pick of the Year' award in 2006. It delivers high productivity, reliability and quality in an easy-to-use design and it is great to see BLI validate the value this product brings to our customers."
Ricoh Aficio MP 7500 Gives Stellar Performance
Ricoh's Aficio MP 7500 earned BLI's "Pick" in the lower end of Segment 5 (the 70- to 79-ppm range). Based on a highly reliable engine that previously earned a "Pick" in this Segment, the 75-ppm Ricoh MP 7500 turned in a remarkable reliability performance, completing its 300,000-impression durability test with no service required and with only a single misfeed. "While its predecessor was an award-winning product, the improvements evident in the MP 7500 make this model even more impressive," said BLI's Emory, citing the excellent ease of use offered by the unit's improved control panel design. The MP 7500 also offers a robust feature set that includes the highest maximum paper capacity of models in its range and a versatile range of output options.
"The Aficio MP 7500 is a robust digital imaging system and Ricoh is extremely proud that it has been named a BLI 'Pick of the Year' for 2006" said Ron Potesky, vice president, Corporate Product Marketing, Ricoh Corporation. "We pride ourselves on delivering advanced document management solutions and are thrilled that this highly regarded organization recognizes our commitment."
Canon imageRUNNER 7095 Aces Tests
Offering very good output quality and earning excellent marks for its reliability, multitasking and ease of use, the Canon imageRUNNER 7095, as tested with the optional imagePASS-S1 Fiery controller, is a BLI "Pick" in Segment 6. "Making this impressive model even more attractive are its low price and a robust feature set that includes a wide range of security features and options," said BLI Managing Editor Daria Hoffman.
"Canon continually strives to provide best-in-class imaging solutions. We are proud to have the imageRUNNER 7095 digital production device be chosen by BLI as the 'Pick of the Year' in Segment 6 for its overall value in the large office and light production environments," said Sam Yoshida, director and general manager, Product Marketing, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc.
