RISO And Xerox Win Special Recognition Awards From BLI Printer Team
|Hackensack (NJ) – Buyers Laboratory (BLI) is pleased to announce that it has given accolades to RISO and Xerox for their innovative ink technology in the following categories:
INKJET TECHNOLOGY, SPRING 2005
OUTSTANDING DOCUMENT IMAGING
TECHNOLOGY IN A DESKTOP MFP, SPRING 2005
The RISO HC5000 is unique because it uses an oil-based ink that was developed by RISO, whereas other desktop inkjet printers use water- or wax-based inks. This, coupled with the RISO’s FORCEJET high-speed piezo-electric inkjet technology (developed jointly by RISO and technology partners), means that the HC 5000 can output both color and monochrome pages at speeds of up to 105 pages-per-minute. BLI Printer Analyst Marlene Glazer Orr commented, “Addressing both the speed and cost barriers to the adoption of color technology, RISO’s high-speed inkjet technology proved in testing to be capable of reliably producing business color output at a fraction of the cost of similar-speed systems and for the lowest cost per page seen in testing to date.” The FORCEJET imaging system contains 24 piezo inkjet heads –six per color, which enables the device to deposit as many as eight drops per single dot. Also noteworthy is the flawless performance the HC5000 delivered during BLI's comprehensive in-house testing.
RISO's, Kevin Hunter, Director, Full Color Business Unit commented, “RISO is pleased to be recognized for our commitment to provide productive, versatile, and cost saving technology that benefits our distribution partners and end users. The HC5000 is the latest product offering that conveys these benefits. As the market for Communication Color grows, RISO looks forward to an exciting future for the HC5000. This product removes the traditional barriers of slow speed and high cost of full color printing. The HC5000 prints at 105 copies per minute at an industry leading operation cost. Again RISO is pleased to be recognized for our products and looks forward to a great future for the HC5000 by making full color accessible to more markets, end users, and applications.”
Xerox Corporation's solid-ink technology is cited for "Outstanding Document Imaging Technology In A Desktop MFP." With solid ink-technology, solid ink sticks are heated to melt a small amount of ink that is held in a reservoir in the print head and then is jetted directly onto the imaging drum to create an image in a single pass through the printer. “Xerox’s solid-ink technology is a favorite of BLI test technicians that has been proven many times over in BLI’s testing of color printers," said BLI's Glazer Orr. "The migration of this technology to desktop MFPs brings a level of output quality and ease of use previously unavailable in this product category.” The solid ink platform also provides outstanding ease of maintenance; the ink sticks are extremely easy to reload—new sticks need only be dropped into the unit’s ink loader underneath the top cover. Each ink stick is keyed (grooved) to only fit in its respective slot, so that a cyan ink stick, for example, may not be inadvertently dropped into the slot for magenta. Additionally, there are no empty cartridges that ever need to be removed, thus reducing associated waste and making the technology more environmentally friendly.
“We’re honored BLI has recognized the Xerox WorkCentre C2424 color multifunction system in its Outstanding Document Imaging Technology category,” said Jim Rise, vice president and general manager, Xerox Office Printing Business. “This confirms Xerox’s success in extending our award-winning solid ink color technology platform into the multifunction arena.”
