Five Vendors Awarded BLI "Picks" For Monochrome Printers

FIVE VENDORS AWARDED BLI “PICKS” FOR MONOCHROME PRINTERS

June 11, 2007 - Hackensack (NJ) – Buyers Laboratory has honored five printer vendors with BLI’s prestigious “Pick of the Year” awards in the monochrome printer category. BLI’s “Pick of the Year” awards are presented semi-annually to the products that perform the best in their respective categories throughout BLI’s in-depth lab testing. During the test, BLI evaluates all critical performance areas, including reliability, image quality, productivity, print drivers, feedback to workstations, administrative utilities, ease of use, network setup, toner yield, cost of ownership and more.
 
After subjecting a number of monochrome printers to its in-depth lab tests, BLI selected the following products from Dell, InfoPrint Solutions Company, Lexmark, Ricoh and Xerox as Spring 2007 “Pick of the Year” winners:

Taking the BLI “Pick” in the large workgroup monochrome printer category, the Xerox Phaser 4510DT provided an excellent overall performance in BLI's tests. “A perfect choice for large workgroups, the Phaser 4510DT offers an exceptional blend of admirable output quality, outstanding reliability and comprehensive management utilities,” said BLI Senior Test Technician Tony Maceri. “And with its well-laid-out print drivers, excellent feedback to users, intuitive control panel and easy-to-navigate menu system, the Phaser 4510DT offers the exemplary ease to use we’ve come to expect from Xerox products.”

Ricoh Takes Two “Pick” Awards In Mid-Size Workgroup Category
In the mid-size workgroup monochrome printer category, the Ricoh Aficio SP 4100N and SP 4110N were chosen as the BLI “Pick” winners. BLI Senior Printer Analyst Marlene Orr stated, “Like other Ricoh products, the SP 4100N and SP 4110N are easy to set up and manage on the network and offer excellent feedback to users, thanks to Ricoh’s outstanding utilities. And not only do they offer commendable productivity and output quality, but these Ricoh printers also offer higher than average toner yields, which translates to decreased downtime and a low cost per page.”

Three outstanding products from Lexmark earned “Pick of the Year” awards in the personal and small workgroup monochrome printer categories. “Once again Lexmark’s monochrome printers have been recognized with BLI ‘Pick of the Year’ awards—the E250dn, E352dn and E450dn are robust, dependable devices that, in spite of their small size, provide customers with a winning combination of value, image quality and ease of use,” said BLI’s Orr.

InfoPrint Solutions Company Recognized In Small Workgroup Category
Two products from InfoPrint Solutions Company earned “Pick of the Year” awards in the small workgroup monochrome printer category. BLI Senior Test Engineer Paul DePaolo summed up the units’ performance, “The InfoPrint 1612 and 1622 offer an impressive combination of productivity, print quality and ease of use in a very compact footprint, making them an ideal choice for small workgroups.”

Dell Awarded “Pick” In Personal Printer Category
Selected as the winner of a “Pick of the Year” award in the personal networked printer category, the Dell Laser 1720dn gave an outstanding performance in BLI’s tests. “The Dell Laser 1720dn offers outstanding reliability, admirable image quality and remarkable ease of use,” said BLI’s DePaolo. “Making the 1720dn even more attractive is the low acquisition cost and a cost per page that is among the lowest in this category.”
