HP, Samsung and Xerox Receive BLI MFP Printer “Pick” Honors

June 4, 2007 - Hackensack (NJ) – Kicking off its prestigious Spring 2007 “Pick” awards, Buyers Lab announced that HP, Samsung and Xerox products received recognition in the important multifunction printer category. Multifunction printers have been a key growth market for all of the major vendors, allowing customers to consolidate print, copy and scan functionality at a lower acquisition cost than possible with traditional copier-centric MFPs.
 
Each year, BLI puts hundreds of products through a rigorous battery of in-depth lab tests, during which the company evaluates all critical performance areas, including reliability, multitasking, image quality, productivity, print drivers, feedback to workstations, administrative utilities, ease of use, network setup, toner yield and more. Then, twice yearly, BLI awards its “Pick of the Year” honors to the products that have given the best overall performance in their respective categories. HP Recognized In Small and Large Workgroup MFP Printer Categories
Two outstanding products from HP were honored as the winners of the “Pick of the Year” award in both the small workgroup and large workgroup monochrome multifunction printer categories. The HP LaserJet M3027 provided an excellent performance in BLI’s exhaustive lab tests. Tony Maceri, senior lab technician for BLI, said, “The LaserJet M3027 is an outstanding choice for small workgroups. In one space-saving device, users get network printing, copying and scanning. Even better, the touch-screen control panel, a feature generally not offered on many devices in this class, makes the LaserJet M3027 exceptionally easy to use.”
 
For large workgroups that require up to legal-size output, the LaserJet M4345xs is an excellent choice. BLI Senior Test Technician Tony Maceri said, “The LaserJet M4345xs offers outstanding ease of use. With the redesigned user-friendly touch-screen control panel, the M4345xs is much easier to use than the previous generation of product. And with HP’s included management utilities, it is easy to manage on the network.”

Samsung Honored In Two Monochrome MFP Categories
Selected as one of the winners of the “Pick of the Year” award in the small workgroup monochrome multifunction printer category, the Samsung SCX-5530FN provided an impressive performance in BLI’s tests. “The SCX-5530FN offers users the full multifunction features found in larger machines, but has a very small footprint and a very easy-to-use control panel,” said BLI Senior Test Engineer Paul DePaolo. “Another really nice feature is the USB port on the front of the device that allows users to print from or scan to a USB thumb drive.”
 
Taking the “Pick” in the mid-size workgroup monochrome multifunction printer category, the Samsung SCX-6322DN offers extensive ease of use and superb overall economy “The SCX-6322DN has a redesigned control panel that greatly enhances ease of use over the previous generation of product,” noted BLI’s DePaolo. “The compact QWERTY keypad greatly simplifies entering e-mail addresses at the control panel. And making both of these Samsung products even more attractive is the fact that they offer a supplies cost per page that is among the lowest for products in their class.”
